Pursuing Your Crazy Idea
It has been quite the journey learning about making and selling baked goods from my own kitchen! There was a bunch of researching of course, the Maine state home cottage laws (as they’re called, because you’re making food from your ‘cottage’ as it were) and going in circles a bit with various links and requirements.
It was a huge learning experience. Not least because it was actually a big self-growth experience, it turns out! Why do these things always turn out to be more than what it seems? It wasn’t really about my difficulty of filling out the form itself, and how the form was difficult to read and easy to miss things. (I almost felt like I was dyslexic filling it out and re-checking it 10x to make sure I didn’t miss a box). I realized it was really about my fear and lack of confidence around giving this business a try.
Inviting in the Fall season
OK, is anyone else binge watching magical fall autumn videos on YouTube? No? Just me? There must be some of you out there…
Welcome to WILD Sisters Create: Helping You Find your Creativity Again
So, that’s WILD Sisters’ mission: To gather women together to play, move and create! And bond with other kindred spirits, and learn more about ourselves.
My mission for myself, is to push myself out of my comfort zone, speak up and share (when it’s so much easier for me to just stay in my house) and ultimately, feel really good about making these serendipitous connections + explorations happen!
Your twenties & thirties are hard — it’s not just you
I’m in my 40s now and I was sitting and reflecting on how hard my twenties and even my thirties was. Don’t get me wrong — I also really enjoyed myself. I moved to Hawai’i for surfing and lived on the famous North Shore and just fell in love with the beauty there. I got to work in the feminist activist world in NYC. Lots of cool things.
Your Twenties is for Experimentation: What do YOU want?
I tried soo many things in my twenties. Some good; some not so good. But I would never have learned from the not-so-good things if I hadn’t tried them. It’s just not quite the same when some adult tells you — “I don’t think that’s a good idea.” Oh, OK then.
So I tried things and that was good. I loved and lost. I moved from Boston to Hawai’i. From Hawai’i to New York City. I waitressed; I freelanced; I worked corporate.
What is Track Day and Why You Should Try It!
I wanted to write this article, as a new female rider (now riding 3.5 years, or 3.5 seasons since I’m in New England) and say emphatically, how helpful track day was to me — even as as relatively newbie rider! It was SO much fun. And just as importantly, it was an awesome learning experience and opportunity.
Making Adorable Animal Affirmation Stickers
Boy, has it been a learning experience ‘trying’ to create physical products for my shop!
First, I thought I’d try making stickers because they are OH, so cute! (Honestly, I get a bit paranoid about sticking them ‘permanently’ on things but, now I have two of my stickers on my devices — laptop and iPad — so I guess I just needed the right stickers!)
So, then it was hours of researching what kind of paper should I print on? Does it matter what printer I have? Should I get matte or glossy? Do I need to laminate it? (oh god).
why the world does not want you to ride a motorcycle
Because if you started riding an actual MOTORCYCLE, then you’d start seeing and realizing how incredible and awesome you are, and start standing up for yourself at work, at home. And start not taking crap too.
When You Are Heartbroken
A dear friend of mine recently went through a heartbreak, and it broke my heart too trying to think of ways of how I could help. I thought back to when I went through break-ups and they were all very lonely journeys, no matter how many friends you have to talk to. Grief makes you feel very alone.
It’s Your Life: Don’t Let Others’ Emotions Affect Your Decisions
Hello. Hi everyone. It has been quite some time since I've been back. I am really happy to be back. It took some effort to get back here and I won't delve into that in today's video, but I will talk at another point about speaking up, showing my face, being visible and all of that. But today I wanted to talk, dive in briefly about a story I experienced recently about just not letting others affect you and your major life, big decisions that you need to make in your life and not letting others affect your decision making and your thinking.
