Welcome to WILD Sisters Create: Helping You Find your Creativity Again
I am sitting here up at our camp, sitting in the lovely shade, and thanking the universe for the dry air and wind today.
I wanted to share a little about how I came up with the idea of WILD Sisters Create and what I hope to accomplish with the group and community.
When I lived in New York City, 15 years ago or so, I started a women’s journaling group, called Journaling Sisters. Some of you who have been around for a while, of course, know this or even participated in some of the workshops! It was a lot of fun but gradually petered out with the pandemic. I shifted to some online gatherings, but times had changed, and I guess I was experiencing my own inner shifts as well.
Now, I’m based in Maine, USA, and enjoying my remote work lifestyle. I can work out in the middle of the day (in my living room) or go work in cute cafes when I’m tired of working from my kitchen table or home office.
But I finally realized I was craving more.
I had been trying different creative small business ideas — but mostly all digital or virtual. Basically, that required me to be alone with my devices; and since I was living a remote work lifestyle already, it just didn’t feel great. I finally woke up and realized whenever I have more social time in my days, I’m much happier. So, let’s do more of that!
I decided I would push myself out of my introvert-post-pandemic bubble and actually organize in-person women’s gatherings, focused on creativity, play and self-exploration. I loved my journaling gatherings before, but now I was craving more — more diversity, more social time, more artistic fun. And so it began.
It’s only been a short few weeks, but we have a guided stand up paddling social planned, along with a mini journaling workshop ~ ice cream social! My hope is for women to have fun meeting other like-minded women (kindred spirits, as I like to say) and hopefully even learn about themselves through a fun, physical or creative activity.
So, that’s WILD Sisters’ mission: To gather women together to play, move and create! And bond with other kindred spirits, and learn more about ourselves.
My mission for myself, is to push myself out of my comfort zone, speak up and share (when it’s so much easier for me to just stay in my house) and ultimately, feel really good about making these serendipitous connections + explorations happen!
I hope to see you, if you’re in Maine or look out for other creative outlets coming online in the coming months!
