Your twenties & thirties are hard — it’s not just you
I’m in my 40s now and I was sitting and reflecting on how hard my twenties and even my thirties was. Don’t get me wrong — I also really enjoyed myself. I moved to Hawai’i for surfing and lived on the famous North Shore and just fell in love with the beauty there. I got to work in the feminist activist world in NYC. Lots of cool things.
But I was also still figuring out and experimenting and exploring a lot. And while that can be interesting and entertaining and fun; it can also get really exhausting and frustrating and not be a very stable foundation oftentimes.
Not that I have everything figured out now or that I don’t have struggles — I do! But I live in a house with my partner with a yard and cars and I have steady day job and we even have time and luxury to play with our motorcycles! I have time to work on my own self-growth through therapy or peer counseling groups. I have a room for my creative crafty stuff (that perpetually needs to be organized).
So, my point is — it’s NOT just YOU. You are wonderful and amazing and a unicorn of gifts and talent and joy! When growing — there will be growing pains. And that’s the pros and cons of it. Enjoy it while it’s here — most importantly — enjoy BEING YOU.

Journaling Prompt:
Whatever age you’re at now, think back on 5 or even 10 years ago. What have you figured out now that you didn’t know then? What lessons are you grateful for learning? What’s something you would like to tell younger you to help her get thru that time?
